The January Uprising: Strategy Game is a real-time strategy (RTS) that transports players back to 1863 to participate in the renowned 19th-century Polish uprising against the Tsarist regime, known as the January Uprising.

In 1863, amidst the civil war in the United States, Europe witnessed a similarly dramatic but lesser-known conflict. After enduring a century of occupation, the Polish people once again plunged into an unequal struggle against their oppressors. Assuming the role of the Polish insurgent army commander, players confront the Russian Empire in guerrilla skirmishes and significant battles. Encounters with historical figures and visits to pivotal locations where the fate of the uprising was determined await players, immersing them in the intricacies of insurgent politics and 19th-century guerrilla warfare.

The January Uprising stands alongside the Warsaw Uprising as one of Poland's largest and most tragic national revolts. Despite slim prospects of success from the outset, players are encouraged not to surrender but to seize the opportunity to alter the course of history.

The January Uprising ranks among Poland's significant national uprisings, including the Kościuszko Uprising, the November Uprising, and the Greater Poland Uprising. Erupting on January 22, 1863, and lasting until autumn 1864, it marked the most extensive Polish national revolt characterized by guerrilla warfare tactics encompassing approximately 1200 battles and involving around 200,000 individuals in insurgent units.
